GOVERNOR WIKE CONFIRMS FEDERAL GOVERNMENT’S REFUND OF STATE MONEY SPENT ON FEDERAL ROADS.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike says the federal Government has refunded the state the Seventy-Eight Bilion Naira spent on federal roads in the state.

Governor Wike disclosed this today at the inauguration of the phase two Isiokpo internal Roads, in Ikwerre Local Government Area by former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi.

The Governor who noted that he will channel the money to develop the state till the last day of his administraton, lauded the people of Ikwerre Local Government Area and Isiokpo in particular for standing by him during his electioneering campaign in 2014.

He announced that he will link Isiokpo from Ogbodo community to Isiodu in Emohua Local Government Area by road as well as construct all the internal roads in Omerelu community to demonstrate his love for the people of the area, nothing that refunds for the projects are already available.

Governor wike used the forum to call on Nigerians to rise and demand from their elected leaders to give account of their stewardship, emphasizing the basic for the reelection of serving Local Government Council Chairmen in the forthcoming local goverment election.

He advised political leaders in the state not to solicit for any aspirant, pointing out that the party primaries will be free and fair and devoid of godfatherism to enable the people chose candidates of their choices.

Speaking while inaugrating the internal roads, former Governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi advocated the need for public funds to be used for public good of the people as exemplified by Governor Wike.

He commended Governor Wike for his judicious use of public funds for the benefits of Rivers people, particularly for opening up access roads for the use of the rural people to boost social-economic activities in their locality.

Former Governor Obi used the forum to call on the All Progressives Congress, APC led federal government to imitate Governor Wike by inviting people to Inaugurate projects they claim to have embarked upon with the borrowed money.

In his remarks and projects description, the state commissioner for works Elloka Tasie-Amadi said the 17.7 kilometers internal roads with 7.3meters wide and 9.7 kilometers drainage will provide good transportation access, improve the values of properties and socio-economic activities in the area.
