RIVERS STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL APPROVES THE AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR THE CONTRUCTION OF TWO NEW FLYOVERS IN PORT HARCOURT AT THE COST OF 12.4 BILLIN NAIRA ONLY.

The Rivers State Executive Council has approved the award of contract for the construction of two new flyovers in Port Harcourt at the cost of Twelve-Point-Four Billion Naira.
The flyovers to be constructed at Waterlines and Ikwerre Road by Olu-Obasanjo Road would be awarded to Julius Berger Nigeria Plc.
The State Commissioner for Works, Mr. Elloka Tasie-Amadi announced this while briefing Journalists at the end of the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike at Government House, Port Harcourt.
Mr. Tasie-Amadi said the flyovers were initiated with a view to solving the traffic difficulties that would be experienced at the junction as a result of construction of the Rebisi, GRA and Rumuola flyovers as well as the reconstruction work at Ikwerre road.
He noted that when the projects would be completed, there will be ease in vehicular movement, reduction of stress experienced by the citizens and cost of transportation.
Also speaking, the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Paulinus Nsirim said the two flyover projects are designed to make transportation easier for those living and doing business in the state.
He noted that with the rightful infrastructure put in place by Governor Wike-led administration, the State is now a designation of choice for investors.
The Information and Communications Commissioner also informed that the third phase of projects commissioning by the state government which cut across road infrastructure, health, sports and education would commence by 1st of March, 2021.
He noted that the list of projects to be commissioned as well as flagged off will be released soon.
