PRESIDENT OF BENIN REPUBLIC HAS EXPRESSED READINESS FOR HIS COUNTRY TO BE PART OF NIGERIA.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama says the President of Benin Republic, Patrice Talon has expressed readiness for his country to be part of Nigeria.

Onyeama stated this shortly after a closed-door meeting with his Beninoise counterpart, Aurelien Agbenonci on Friday.

The Minister said the Beninoise President gave the offer when he visited President Muhammadu Buhari a few weeks back.

According to Onyeama, the President of Benin Republic said as far as they were concerned they wanted Benin to be the 37^th State of Nigeria, not just saying but in reality. He said at the visit, both Presidents discussed agreements between the two countries on how to put the issue of smuggling to an end as a follow-up to the Presidents meeting.
