JUSTICE M.I. ABUBAKA SENTENCED ONE CLINTON ONYE TO FIVE YEARS IMPRISONMENT FOR ILLEGALLY DEALING IN PETROLEUM PRODUCTS.

Justice M.I Abubakar of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has sentenced one Clinton Onye to five years imprisonment for illegally dealing in Petroleum products.

He was jailed following his arraignment by the Port Harcourt Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on two count charge bordering on conspiracy to deal in Petroleum products, contrary to section 17 (1) (a) of the Miscellaneous Offence Act of the Federal Government 2004.

The charge read that Clinton Onye and one Okoro currently at large on November 19, 2019 at Elele Alumini Road, Rivers State up lawfully operate oil bunkery without lawful authority or license to deal in Petroleum products, had in their possession eight-hundred and seventy-five litres of Automatic Gas Oil, thereby committed an offence contrary to section 17 (1) (a) of the miscellaneous offence.

Our Judicial Reporter, Festus Wike reports that the convicted Onye was arrested by the Anti-Bunkering Team of the Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt and handed over to the EFCC for further investigation and prosecution.
