PLANK SHED IN MARINE BASE MARKET IN PORT HARCOURT LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA DESTROYED PROPERTY WORTH MILLIONS OF NAIRA BY FIRE.

Property worth millions of Naira were destroyed as fire gutted a popular plank shed in Marine Base Market in Port Harcourt Local Government Area of the State.

Reports say the inferno which started at about eleven pm on Wednesday from the coffin section razed down the entire market.

According to reports, it took the intervention of residents of the area to stop the fire from spreading to residential areas.

Some of the victims of the fire disaster who were devastated over the incident, berated personnel of the fire service for not responding immediately to salvage the situation.

The victims who regretted the massive looting of property by hoodlums during the incident, appealed to Governor Nyesom Wike and good spirited individuals to come to their aid.

Our correspondent reports that the cause of the fire is still unknown.
