Bishop, Anglican Diocese of Okrika, Right Reverend Enoch Atuboyedia has charged newly elected members of the Parish Church Council, PCC, to exhibit the spirit of self-sacrifice in the discharge of their duties to God and the Church.
The Bishop gave the advice while declaring open a one-day Seminar with the theme, “From Glory to Glory,” at Bethel Anglican Church, Amadi-Ama Port Harcourt.
He explained that the Seminar was designed to acquaint members entrusted with responsibilities in the Diocese with all the guidelines contained in the constitution of the Anglican Communion and God’s word, the Bible for the growth and unity of the Church.
Bishop Atuboyedia, admonished members of the Church Council and other workers to always consider themselves as Servants in God’s vineyard, saying such attitude will keep those in authority from drifting into anarchy.
On his part, the Chancellor of the Diocese, Justice Henry Sika Aprioku called on Members of the Church to desist from all forms of spiritual prostitution saying it will drag the Anglican Communion and the Diocese into disrepute.
The chancellor, delivering a paper entitled “The Diocesan Constitution and church Administration,” warned Members of the Church against violation of the provisions of the constitution and the Bishop pronouncement to avoid severe penalties, adding that the new Church Council and the Diocese will not tolerate Members belonging to cult Organisations.
Radio Rivers Correspondent, Neebari Dum-Nwalu reports that the Seminar also featured communion service.
