Ghana has started a mass rollout of the six hundred thousand Oxford-Astrazeneca vaccines doses it received last week.
The vaccination drive is taking place in forty-three districts, mostly in Southern Ghana where a high number of Covid-19 cases have been recorded.
Reports say priority is being given to front line health workers, those with underlying health conditions and those aged over sixty years old but pregnant women and children won’t be vaccinated as there is no enough data on possible side effects for these groups.
The country’s parliament which was shut after seventeen members of parliament tested positive for the virus, resumed today and members of parliaments are expected to get the jabs.
About twenty million people are expected to have received the jab across the country before the year ends.
