RIVERS STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY HAS GIVEN FIRST READING TO THE PROPOSED STATE PUBLIC PROCUREMENT AMENDMENT BILL, 2021

Rivers State House of Assembly has given first reading to the proposed State public Procurement Amendment Bill, 2021.

This followed a Correspondence from Governor Wike to the Assembly for the consideration and enactment of the bill.

The Speaker, Ikwuiyi Owaji Ibani while reading the letter to members on the floor of the House said the bill sought to amend section 32 of the existing law.

Ibani said the bill may allow for mobilization fee of more than the contract sum to any supplier under the provision and would be subject to ratification by the Rivers State Executive Council.

The Majority Leader, Martins Amawewhule while presenting the bill said, the bill when passed may be cited as the Rivers State Public Procurement Amendment Law of 2021

Assembly Correspondent Ijeoma Tubosia reports that the amendment bill seeks to amend section 32 of law No. 4 of 2008.
