GOVERNOR WIKE DECLARES THAT HIS ADMINISTRATION IS DOING EVERYTHING HUMANLY POSSIBLE TO ENSURE THAT THE SECURITY CHALLENGES FACING THE STATE ARE ADDRESSED.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that his administration is doing everything humanly possible to ensure that the security challenges facing parts of the state are addressed with a view to restoring peace.

Accordingly, he has stated that five gunboats have been provided to the Rivers State Police Command, while another five gunboats would soon be provided to the Army and Navy respectively.

Governor Wike who disclosed this today when Traditional Rulers, Chiefs, Elders and Stakeholders of Andoni Local Government Area paid him a solidarity visit at Government House, Port Harcourt, expressed dismay over the issue of insecurity which according to him is a source of concern for all.

He admonished the people of Andoni to join forces and work together as a team irrespective of political affiliation to ensure that the security challenges affecting the area are tackled headlong and perpetrators brought to book.

Governor Wike noted his administration commitment to tackle and reduce the security challenges in Andoni, pointing out that with their collective efforts and support to the State Government by providing useful information, the aim will be achieved.

The Governor also assured them that the Andoni section of the Ogoni-Andoni-Opobo-Nkoro Unity Road will be completed this year to enable them drive home, saying ninety percent of the contract sum has already been paid.

He noted that the Opobo section of the road will be inaugurated this May, pointing out that while politicians play politics with road projects, he will not abandoned the project, but ensure that the road is completed.

Earlier, in an address presented on behalf of the people of Andoni by the Okan-AmaIkuru-Town, King Aaron Ikuru, lauded the Governor for his developmental projects in the area, particularly the Ogoni-Andoni-Opobo-Nkoro Unity road which has reached an advanced stage.

King Ikuru noted the security challenges facing the people of the area and the various intervention efforts by the state government, but however solicit for wider intervention as efforts put in place by traditional rulers, chiefs and leaders of the area do not yield positive result.

He used the forum to thank the Governor for his tireless efforts with security agencies to ensure his early release from his abductors.
