Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has lauded the people of Ogbum-Nu-Abali for giving Rivers State Government their consent to embark on the daulisation of the road after their initial rejection.

Speaking during the flag-off of the dualisation of the Ogbum-Nu-Abali- Eastern Bye-Pass Road on Tuesday, Governor Wike said the economic benefits of the road were enormous.

He also stated that the dualization of the road was necessary due to the construction of the Oro-Abali and Rebisi Flyovers as well as other projects within the area.

He said compensation had been fully paid to owners of property affected by the project and the company also mobilized to commence work, emphasizing that the project will be completed within twelve months.

Performing the flag-off, the member representing Port Harcourt Federal Constituency One, Kenneth Chikere expressed the gratitude of the people of the area to Governor Wike, saying the flag-off of the project has brought to an end speculations on the dualization of the road by successive administrations.

In his project description, the State Commissioner for Works, Elloka Tasie Amadi said when completed, the road which would be built according to design specifications with a minimum lifespan of thirty years, would bring about positive transformation in the area.
