Residents of Rivers State have reacted to the Federal Government’s decision to seek Senate’s approval of Eight hundred and ninety five Billion Naira for the purchase of military equipment to fight Boko Haram, Bandits, COVID-19 and HIV.
Speaking in an interview with Radio Rivers Correspondent, Otigbuo Gift, in Port Harcourt, Matthew Chinedu, Samuel Dukuye and Anienka Afia said the loans should be approved provided it would be used judiciously and not diverted to private pockets.
The respondents said the issue of trust was a challenge in the Country, but when the loan is approved for the vaccines it should be made compulsory for all Nigerians to take the jab to check the pandemic.
On the HIV/AIDs drugs procurement, the respondents said it should be distributed free to all those living with the virus.
They, however, applauded the Federal and State governments’ efforts in the fight against COVID-19 but appealed for insecurity to be tackled head long to boost investors confidence in the Country.
