World Torture Day, it is a day set aside by the United Nations to recognize victims of torture across the globe.

Here in Nigeria and Rivers State in particular Security Agencies especially the Police have had challenging time on issues concerning torture.

Police Spokesman Nnamdi Omoni in an interview with Radio Rivers Crime Reporter Imikubi Lilybox said torture is a criminal act and that the law is against those who perpetrate it.

The Rivers State Police Command under the watch of Police Commissioner, Friday Eboka according to Omoni had severally warned its officers and men not to extract information from suspects through torture.

He affairmed that the conduct of officers is now civil and the Human Rights department of the command is working effectively to track airing officers and men including the general public who are subjects of torture.
