RIVERS STATE MINISTRY OF HEALTH TO PARTNER RIVERS STATE MEDIA FOR FAMILY PLANNING TO CREATE AWARENESS ON FAMILY PLANNING.

Rivers State Ministry of Health is to partner Rivers State Media for Family Planning to create awareness on family planning via various social media platforms.
Speaking during a media round table discussion with various Stakeholders in Port Harcourt, the State Commissioner of Health, Professor Chike Princewill said parents were to play a vital role in the enlightenment of the adolescent, saying family planning is not for married people alone rather it involves both the young men and women.
He stated that the government under the leadership of Governor Nyesom Wike had provided various facilities that would enhance family planning in the State.
Represented by the Director Public Health and Disease Control Services, Ministry of Health, Dr. Golden Owhonda, the Commissioner emphasized that family planning was free and should not be paid for.
Also speaking, the State Family Planning Coordinator, State Ministry of Health, Igbanibo Doris said every family and adult should know the importance of reproductive health for family planning to be easy and advised men to take it seriously.
The various Stakeholders at the event urged families to enlighten their children as it is impossible to stop somebody that is sexually active, urging the adolescent to go for family planning as a measure to secure their future.
Earlier, the Chairperson of the Rivers Media Family Planning, Jenewari Harry Utomi said that the aim of the round table discussion was to address factors mitigating uptake of family planning with policy makers, Technocrats, and influencers and to seek commitment from all stakeholders for a sustained family planning service uptake.
