The increase in the price of a litre of Automotive Gas Oil also known as Diesel to two hundred and eighty Naira following the recent increase in global oil prices and Naira devaluation is eliciting reactions from the public.
Speaking to Radio Rivers correspondent Otigbuo Gift in an interview traders and truck drivers’ expressed concern at the exorbitant price of diesel which was formally two hundred and twenty Naira per litre which is affecting their businesses
According to them the new diesel price is affecting their businesses as a result of the high cost of transportation in bringing goods from the North to the South.
They said a bag of cabbage which was sold for two thousand Naira is now goes for five thousand Naira.
They, however, called on the government to mitigate the diesel price in order to reduce the price of food items.
