GOVERNOR WIKE CHALLENGES LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHAIRMEN TO EMBARK ON DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS IN THEIR AREAS.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has challenged Local Government Chairmen in the state to embark on development projects in their areas to better the lot of their people.

Speaking while commissioning the Ekeukwu Ultra Modern Market, Ulakwo, Etche, built by the Chairman of Etche Local Government Area, Dr Obinna Anyanwu, Governor Wike expressed happiness that the project would enhance the economic well-being of the people of Etche and encouraged Dr. Obinna Anyanwu to continue to deliver quality projects that would touch the lives of the people of Etche.

Represented by the State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Ambassador Desmond Akawor the Governor said the Chairman has set a project implementation that anyone would succeed him would strife to improve upon.

 Governor Wike who accused the APC led government of neglecting the state by failing to fulfill any of its promises, said in less than six years, his administration has constructed ten fly over bridges, built roads, schools and hospitals in all parts of the State.

He also expressed regret that even the so called narrow gaurge rail line allegedly approved for Rivers State has been cancelled while, construction of rail line, in Maiduguri, Borno State is ongoing.

The Chairman of Etche Local Government Area, Dr. Obinna Anyanwu said the market was in a state of dilapidation at the inception of his administration and he considered it necessary to embark on its reconstruction to boost economic activities in the area and enhance the living condition of the people.
