Rivers State Governor,Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has accused the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party , PDP of sowing seed of discord among PDP governors and jeorpardizing the party ‘s prospect to clinch th presidency in 2023.

Governor Wike , who stated while speaking on a live Television programme in Port Harcourt today, said it was regrettable that instead of capitalizing on the inefficiecny and maladmnistration that has characterized the All Progressives Congress five years in power , PDP’s National Working Committee is deeepening cracks in the party.

The Governor explained that rather than focus on strategies on how to take advantage of the growing disenchantment with the APC government ,the NWC is sowing seeds of discord among governors using two former govenors of Imo and Cross Rivers States and present Senator from Benue State.

He said because he lacks the ability to defect to the APC or another party, he will continue to do what he can to ensure the survival of the PDP and described as disingenous the decision of the NWC to jettison the recommendations of Benue State Governors, Samuel Ortom led committee set up to reconcile the party in Niger and Plateau States, just because of its vested interest in Niger State.

The Governor accused the current leadership of NWC of merely being interested in retaining current structure of the party to remain in power , and to to win the 2023 election .

Commenting on issues pf insecurity, Governor Wike , said the level of insecurity leading to deaths , pparticularly in Borno State and other parts of the country ought to have compelled President Buhari to keep his promise of honouring the invitation by the House of Representatives.

He warned that President Muhammedu Buhari’s intergrity will be at stake if he fails to honour the invitation by the House of Representatives to address the growing concern about the spate of insecurity across the country.

Governor Wike pointed out that it was the APC members who controls majority in the National Assembly that moved the motion to invite President Buhari to address them on measures are being taken to end the spate of violent killings , to which he consented.

The Governor said it was wrong of the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the federation to turn around to subject the invitation to legal interpretation , instead of protecting the intergrity of the President which is now at stake . He stated if he were the Attorney General of the federation , he would have advised the President privately and urged him to write a letter to the House of Representatives that he would come at later day because of the exigency of his office.

Governor Wike however recommended the creation of employment opportunities for the youths and drastic change to operational system of policing in the country as part of measures to end the spate of violent crimes in the country. He also insisted that states must be allowed to be involved in Community Policing, which has already been hijacked by APC members.
