GOVERNOR WIKE SUES FOR UNITY AMONG IKWERRE LOCAL GOVERNMENT

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has hinted plans by the state government to shut down some activities in the state due to the 2nd wave of Covid-19 pandemic.
Governor Wike disclosed this during the 90th Birthday Celebration thanksgiving of Mrs Precilla Nwanediye Queen Mark, mother of the Director General of Rivers State Bureau on Public Procurement, Ibrahim Eddy Mark at Saint Martin’s Anglican Church, Omagwa in Ikwerre Local Government Area.
The Governor who reiterated that Covid-19 is real, noted that 40 cases of the virus was recorded, emphasizing that before the end of the year, stringent measures will be taken by government to safeguard lives of people in the state.
He frowned at the non-adherence to the Covid-19 protocols like wearing of facemask especially in Churches Nad Markets places and advised the Bishop of the Ikwerre to ensure that members of the diocese wear masks during services to avoid being shot down.
Governor Wike also used the forum to advise the people of Ikwerre Local Government to come together and forge a common front for the unity and development of the Local Government Area, saying the 90th Birthday Celebration of Mrs. Precilla Mark should serve as a turning point for the new phase of unity in the area.
He congratulated the celebrant for attaining the age of 90 and announced the construction of Agwawiri road in Omegwa and a donation of 50 Million Naira only in support of the Church.
Delivering the sermon titled ”Thanking God for His Mercy” the Bishop, Diocese of Ikwerre, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Rt Revd. Blessing Enyindah, stressed the need for people to always acknowledge God’s mercies in their lives.
Bishop Enyindah who observed that this is an era where people lived below the lifespan of 50, said it was the mercy of God that made Mrs. Precilla Mark attain 90 years and admonished the congregation to inculcate the habit of living a healthy lifestyle, commit their lives unto God and live in accordance to His ways so as to live upto 90 years.
