Residents of Rivers State have reacted to the recent statement made by the Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi via the Corps Public Education Officer, Bisi Kaseem urging motorists and passengers to desist from night trips considering the risks and rising cases of fatalities recorded in recent times at nights.
They further gave reasons why motorists and passengers should avoid night trips following January 5th and 9th 2021, fatal accidents which occurred in Kabba, Kogi State and Akwanga-Keffi Makurdi respectively.
Speaking in an interview with Radio Rivers Correspondent, Igosiarikonma Silas at Waterlines Park in Port Harcourt, some respondents including, Cletus Orchia, Prince Azunna, Uwoma Sunday and Sunny Emakpo, however said there was no risk in night travelling if not for bandits, bad roads and poor head lights used by some drivers, stressing that night travelling is safe and far better than day time travelling.
They appealed to the Federal Government to deploy more security personnel across the country to ensure the safety of travelers and motorists.
