INTERNET BLOCKED AND SECURITY STEPPED UP IN UGANDA AS COUNTING GETS UNDERWAY

The internet has been blocked and security stepped up in Uganda as counting gets underway after polls closed in a hotly contested election.

A Thirty-Eight year old singer is challenging Yoweri Museveni, Seventy-Six, in one of the world’s youngest countries.

Robert Kyaqulanyi, known by his stage name Bobi Wine, said he represented the younger generation, while Museveni said he was standing for stability.

  Dozens of people have been killed in the run-up to the election.
