FEDERAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL APPROVES EXTENSION OF NIGERIAN TEACHERS RETIREMENT AGE FROM 60 TO 65

The Federal Executive Council has approved the extension of Nigerian Teachers retirement age from sixty to sixty five.

The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu announced this at the end of the Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to Adamu, the Council approved a document titled Harmonized retirement age for teachers Bill 2021” and sent to the National Assembly for consideration and approval.

He explained that the retirement age of teachers would move from sixty to sixty five, while the years of Service will also move from thirty five to forty if the bill was approved by the National Assembly.

Adamu said the bill would give legal backing to new measures by the Current administration to enhance the teaching profession in the Country.
