RESIDENTS OF RIVERS STATE REACT TO THE APPROVAL OF 20 NEW PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

Residents of Rivers State have reacted to the approval of twenty new Private Universities by the Federal Executive Council FEC.

Speaking in an interview with Radio Rivers Correspondent, Nsikak Kufre, Kenoye Oru, Samuel Ikuru Joyce Mbatam said the approval of new private universities is a good omen for the country, as it will bring about healthy competition in universities education.

According to them, the move would engender effective teaching and learning as well as afford awaiting students opportunity to enter tertiary institution.

Respondents emphasized that the move would also afford unemployed Graduates job opportunities.

They appealed to the Federal Government to improve the standard of public universities for better competition through provision of infrastructure study aid and research funding.

They also appealed to private universities to check exorbitant school fees and other financial burdens on parents to give room for more students intake.
