The New York City Police has deployed hundreds more officers to the subway system on Saturday after a string of stabbing attacks apparently targeting the homeless left two people dead.
New York City Police Commissioner, Dermot Sheg said the first attack happened on Friday morning when a sixty-seven-year-old man was stabbed by a masked assailant at the west 181st Street Station in Upper Manhaltan.
Reports say the victim is recovering in the hospital.
Dermot said the attacks all on the train or at stations were unprovoked and that they were investigating whether they were all committed by the same person.
Sheg said the New York Police Department was immediately deploying five hundred additional officers to the city’s transit system in response.
