The people of Omoku Community in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State have threatened to shut down activities of Agip Oil Company Limited from the area if their demands were not met by the Company.
The President-General of Omoku Youth Federation, Hopeson Meieuzor stated this during a Press Conference at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Press Centre, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt.
Hopeson Meieuzor said for the past fifty years of oil exploration by Agip Oil Company in the area and with over three hundred oil wells, the Omoku Community had not benefited commensurably from Agip.
He pointed out that because of the oil and gas exploration going on in Omoku Community, economic activities had been paralyzed, people are dying everyday and no source of good drinking water among others.
The Youth President explained that Agip Oil Company had neglected the Omoku Community so much that they cannot continue to endure the situation and called on them to do something.
He called on the State Governor, Nyesom Wike to intervene to avoid break down of law and order in the Area.
