As the new Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Ebuka Friday, assumed office, residents of Port Harcourt have called for effective monitoring of officers and men of the Command, especially those at check points who still extort money from motorists.
The respondents in an interview with Radio Rivers Correspondent Marcus Etema also decried the inhuman treatment meted out to suspects by some police officers and sued for a change of attitude.
They further appealed to the new Commissioner of Police to combat kidnapping, cultism, rape and other crimes in the state as well as the payment of bail in police station.
The new C.P. Eboka Friday who assumed duty in the State last week has promised to tackle crime and criminality headlong.
