AT LEAST 33 MALIAN SOLDIERS DEAD AND 14 WOUNDED IN AN ATTACK ON A MILITARY POST IN THE COUNTRY’S VIOLENCE-HIT NORTH-EAST REGION OF GAO.

At least thirty-three Malian Soldiers have been killed and fourteen wounded in an attack on a military post in the country’s violence-hit north-eastern region of Gao.
Sources say one hundred assailants on top-up trucks and motorbikes launched the attack in the town of Tessit, located sixty kilometre South-east of Ansongo, near Mali’s border with Burkina Faso and Niger.
The Army said in a statement on Wednesday that twenty attackers were killed but there was no immediate claim of responsibility.
While offering its condolences to the soldiers’ families, the Army underlined the necessity of strengthening the fight against terrorism.
