A FORMER MINISTER OF THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO HAS BEEN ARRESTED OVER MISMANAGEMENT OF FUND

A former Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo has been arrested as part of an investigation into corruption in the Education Ministry over mismanagement of fund.
Willy Bakonga is the second public education official sentenced to twenty years in prison for embezzlement.
President Felix Tshisekedi made the provision of free Primary Education one of his key policies.
In February, the World Bank said it was suspending the first tranche of its one hundred million Dollars payment to help fund the programme because of fraud and corruption.
