General Manager Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation, Sir Sampson Fiberesima has restated the corporations commitment to support any effort that would ensure the safety of mothers and a better family.
Sir Fiberesima stated this when the Executive members of the Rivers State Media for Family Planning paid him an advocacy visit in his office in Port-Harcourt.
The General manager stressed the need for safe Mother-hood and effective birth control to remedy the challenges of population explosion in the State.
He urged the Media advocates to expand the scope of their activities to include other aspects of Mother and Child health care such as the use of Caesarean session during child birth to ensure safe delivery saying it will help in curbing superstitions associated with the mothers resorting to caesarian session.
Sir Fiberesima assured the group that the Station was ready to support activities designed to improve the health of Women, emphazing that the Media has been at the front of the campaign against the pandemic and other health challenges facing residents of the State and will replicate same in the area of family planning to reduce mortality rate.
Speaking earlier, the Chairperson of Rivers media for Family Planning Jenewari Harry Utomi thanked the General Manager and the corporation for the continuous support to the body’s programmes of the body aimed at promoting good health among women in the State.
She assured the corporation of the organization’s readiness to advocate for safe reproductive health.
Radio Rivers Correspondent Neebari Dum-Nwalu quoted the Secretary of the organization, Tonye Nria-Dappa as saying that the Rivers media for Family planning will deliver Media contents to create awareness on its activities.
