GOVERNOR WIKE CHARGES OGONI COMMUNITIES TO LIVE IN PEACE AS TO ATTRACT DEVELOPMENT IN THE AREA.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has called on the people of Bomu and Lewe Communities in Gokana Local Government Area to eschew all forms of crisis, unwanted destruction of property and killings and live together for the overall peace and development of their communities.

Governor Wike made the call during the flag-off of the reconstruction of Government Secondary School, Kpor in Gokana Local Government Area.

The Gvoernor admonished the people of the two communities to learn from the misfortune that befell Ogoniland, when prominent sons of the kingdom were killed and learn how to live together as one people, pointing out that he will meet with people of the communities to broker peace.

Commenting on the school, Governor Wike regretted the abandonment of notable government schools that had produced prominent Rivers sons to rot, emphasizing that all the contractual sum for the project will be released to the contractor.

He urged the people of the area to continue to remain firm and steadfast, assuring that he will continue to do everything humanly possible for Rivers people for having stood firm for him when the enemies came to steal their mandate.

Governor Wike also advised the contractor to execute the project according to specification and ensure its completion within the stipulated time frame.

Performing the ceremony, the Senator representing Rivers South-East Senatorial District, Senator Barinada Barry Mpigi lauded Governor Wike for his developmental footprints in Ogoniland and Rivers State in general.

Senator Mpigi who noted that Gokana was home for PDP, assured the Governor that the only person in the opposition party would soon come back to the party to move the Local Government and state forward.

Earlier, in his remarks, the State Commissioner for Education, Professor Kaniye Ebeku said the upgrade and reconstruction of the school would increase the capacity and provide opportunity for children in the area to be taught rightfully in order not to be indoctrinated.
