Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has said that he never contemplated not to recognize or elevate the Traditional Stool of the Apiti of Rumueme Kingdom as speculated in some quarters.
Governor Wike made the assertion at a thanksgiving service organized by Nyenwe Eli Omunakwe Nyeche Nsirim, the Apiti of Rumueme Kingdom for the elevation of his stool to a First Class Traditional Ruler by the Rivers State Government at Saint John’s Anglican Church, Rumueme in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
The Governor noted that he only waited for the appropriate time to elevate the stool of the monarch because of previous circumstances that had trailed issues concerning Chieftaincy in the Kingdom.
He however used the forum to appeal to the monarch to see the elevation of his stool as an opportunity to unite and bring all citizens of the Kingdom together as well as desist from adhering to negative advice that will further balkanize the kingdom
Earlier in his sermon titled “Lord Have Mercy” the Bishop, Diocese of Niger Delta North, Anglican Communion, Right Reverend Wisdom Ihunwo admonished Nigerians to always seek the mercies of God given the circumstances the country finds itself.
He noted that God has shown mercy to the monarch with the elevation of his traditional stool by the Rivers State Government and lauded Governor Nyesom Wike for the honour done him.
