CHIEF OLUSEGUN OBASANJO ADVISES ALL AGITATORS FOR THE DISINTEGRATION OF NIGERIA TO EMBRACE DIALOGUE TO AVOID THROWING THE COUNTRY INTO ANOTHER ROUND OF UNEXPLAINABLE CIVIL WAR.

Former Nigeria President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has advised all agitators for the disintegration of Nigeria to embrace Dialogue as an alternative to press home their Demand, to avoid throwing the Country into another round of unexplainable civil war.

Chief Obasanjo who handed down the advise during the eightieth Birthday celebration of Rear Admiral O.P. Fingesi Retired, and book presentation Titled “Beyond the Blue Sea: The Voyage of Rear Admiral Promise Fingesi and FESTAC 77 by Charles Ogan in Port Harcourt said Justice, good governance and equitable distribution of the National Resources necessitated agitation for resource control and restructuring of the present political system.

Represented by one of his sons, Chief Oba Obasanjo the former President noted that Nigeria does not need another civil war considering its present peculiarity emphasizing that the issues of peace, security and welfare of the citizenry especially of the Niger Delta Region that produces the bulk of the nation foreign exchange should be accorded priority attention by government.

Also speaking, the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral AWWAL Zubairu Gambo described Rear Admiral O.P Fingesi as a National Beacon, a point of reference and a worthy Icon of Naval Service, who has left a legacy of hardwork and professionalism in the Nigeria Navy.

Vice Admiral Gambo who was represented by the Flag Officer Commanding, Central Naval Command Yenagoa Bayelsa State, Rear Admiral Obi Egbuchu-lam congratulated the celebrant for attaining the age of Eighty years and expressed optimism that his commitment in advancing the Nigeria Navy would remain indelible in the heart of Naval Officers in the Country.

On his part, the former Vice Chancellor, University of Port Harcourt, Emeritus Professor Nimi Briggs while reviewing the book “Beyond the Blue Sea: The Voyage of Rear Admiral Promise Fingesi and FESTAC’77 said the books which contain four hundred and ninety two pages is dedicated to all those that fought during the Nigeria Civil War and continue to fight for equity and Justice for the betterment of society.

Responding, The Celebrant, Rear Admiral O.P Fingesi who attributed his success and achievement while on active service to his dependence on God as well as loyalty and commitment to duty, expressed gratitude to God for his benevolence and divine protection.

Radio Rivers Correspondent, Francis Golden reports that former, Governor of Old Rivers State, Chief Rufus Ada George, first military Governor of Rivers State, King Alfred Diete-Spiff, Senator representing Rivers East Senatorial District, Senator Thompson Sekibo, former Governor of Rivers State, Sir Celestin Omehia and General Manager Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation, Sir Sampson Fiberesima were among dignitaries that graced the event.
